A stable pH or conductivity is critical in many aquatic research facilities. In many systems pH is showing a range, influenced by biomass in the system, feeding level, type of feed, etc. Conductivity in a system is influenced by water exchange rate, quality of the incoming water etc. Therefore, ZEBCARE developed the automated aquatic dosing system.

Aquatic dosing system for pH control on system level

In order to strictly maintain the desired pH in a system, an automated pH control system must be added to the set-up. This can be achieved in two ways.

A ZEBCARE pH dosing system is linked to the ZEBCARE monitoring & control system, if present. The ZEBCARE monitoring & control system will measure pH real-time, and if pH is outside the pre-set range, the ZEBCARE monitoring & control system will activate the ZEBCARE pH dosing system. Either an acid, like low strength chloric acid or an organic acid, or a base, like a sodium bicarbonate solution, will be used to correct the pH to the desired level.

In case the aquatic research system is not equipped with a ZEBCARE monitoring & control system, a ZEBCARE pH dosing system can be provided with an internal pH monitoring & control probe. This is a stand-alone system fully capable of keeping the system at the desired pre-set pH level.

Conductivity control on system level

In order to strictly maintain the desired conductivity in a system, an automated conductivity control system must be added to the set-up. This can be achieved in two ways.

A ZEBCARE conductivity dosing system is linked to the ZEBCARE monitoring & control system, if present. The ZEBCARE monitoring & control system will measure conductivity real-time and if the conductivity is outside the pre-set range, the ZEBCARE monitoring & control system will activate the ZEBCARE conductivity aquatic dosing system. Either a saline solution, like an artificial sea salt solution, or RO water input, will be used to correct the conductivity to the desired level.

Custom dosing solutions

Specific research may require precise dosing of chemical compounds in the system water for short or long periods. A dosing pump is a small, positive displacement pump. It is designed to pump an exact flow rate of a chemical or substance into either a water, steam or gas flow. A dosing pump will deliver this precise flow rate of chemical or other product by many different methods, but it generally involves drawing a measured amount into a chamber and then injecting this volume of chemical into the pipe or tank being dosed. A dosing pump is usually quite small and is powered by either a small electric motor or air actuator. They are controlled either by an external control system or more commonly an internal pump controller that can alter the flow rate, the on/off function and also things like alarms and warnings for run dry, degassing and low product levels.

ZEBCARE can provide the dosing pump solution fitting your needs. Please contact our sales representative for more information or visit our webshop for a quote.
